OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. -- A New York auctioneer has been installed as the
1998-99 president of the National Auctioneers Association. Robert A. (Rob)
Doyle, CAI, Fishkill, N.Y., assumed the presidency July 18 during the NAA 49th
annual convention. Doyle succeeds outgoing president Don Shearer, CAI, GPPA,
who assumes duties as NAA chairman of the board.
Formed in 1949 as a trade association for professional auctioneers, the NAA
has 5,800 members. Doyle serves as the principal auctioneer with Absolute
Auction & Realty Company, based in Beacon, N.Y., and with Pleasant Valley
Auction Hall, based in Pleasant Valley, N.Y. The two companies specialize in
selling both real estate and personal property via the auction method of
marketing.
Doyle has also been active in the New York State Auctioneer Association and
the New York City Auctioneers Association. He was the 1995 New York Auctioneer
of the Year and the 1992 New York City Auctioneer of the Year.
More than 1,000 auctioneers and their families attended the convention, which
featured educational workshops and the International Auctioneer Championship.
The convention also featured the induction of three longtime auctioneers into
the NAA Hall of Fame.
