Queen St Cleaners Robbed

Queen Street Cleaners at Newtown Shopping Village was the scene of a robbery

about 12:45 pm, Wednesday, when a lone man entered the store, demanded money

from a clerk and then fled, police said.

Police said the well-dressed man entered the store and calmly ordered a lone

female clerk to give him the money from two cash registers. The clerk handed

over about $120 and then was ordered to go to a back room by the robber where

she stayed as he fled, police said. The clerk wasn't injured.

Police describe the assailant as about 30 to 35 years old, with a thin build,

about five-foot, nine inches tall, with light brown hair and a mustache. The

man was wearing aviator-style sunglasses, police said.

During the incident, the man kept a hand in his jacket pocket suggesting that

he had a weapon, police said.

The man who committed the robbery is a suspect in a recent string of armed

robberies in the region including incidents Derby, Norwalk, Fairfield, New

Haven and Orange, police said.

Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to contact them at
