Victor L. Martin
Victor L. Martin, 72, of Trumbull, husband of Theresa White Martin and father
of Karen Yitts of Newtown, died February 1, in St Vincent's Medical Center.
Born on August 7, 1926, in the Bronx, N.Y., the son of the late Victor J. and
Anna (Tuckarch) Martin, he was a Trumbull resident for the past 25 years and
prior was a lifelong Bridgeport resident. Mr Martin was a retired accountant
with Sikorsky Aircraft for 25 years. After retirement he taught accounting at
Butler Business School in Bridgeport.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving in World War II, a member of the
F.A.R.A. of Southport, a member of the Indian Lodge Radio Control Club of
Trumbull, and a former scoutmaster for St Augustine Troop #43.
Survivors, in addition to his wife and daughter, include two sons, Rev Victor
T. Martin of Fairfield and Richard J. Martin of Oxford; two other daughters,
Nancy Salbas of Monroe and Susan Smey of Derby; and eight grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated February 4 in St Teresa's Church,
5301 Main Street, Trumbull. Burial took place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery,
Trumbull.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1175 Post

Raymond J. Collins
Raymond J. Collins, 68, of Shelton, father of Stephen Collins of Sandy Hook,
died January 28, in St Vincent Medical Center. He was the widower of Barbara
Mahoney Collins who died on December 31, 1998.
Born in Lynn, Mass., Mr Collins had been a Shelton resident for over 20 years.
He was retired from Cutrufello's, Inc in Stratford.
Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Rodriguez of Monroe and Susan Collins
of Trumbull; three additional sons, Alan Collins of Monroe, William Collins of
Trumbull and Raymond J. Collins, Jr, of Lantana, Fla.; his mother, Alice
Collins of Massachusetts; two sisters, Dorothy Hoyt of Massachusetts, and
Janet Kollar of Florida; one brother, Donald Collins of California; four
step-children; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and
nephews.
The funeral was held January 30 at Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street,
Stratford. Interment was private.

Julia M. Povall
Julia (Dwyer) Povall, 81, mother of Kathleen Martin of Sandy Hook, died on
January 27, at the Elizabeth Seton Residence in Wellesley Hills, Mass.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on April 26, 1917, she was the beloved wife of the
late Walter Povall and devoted mother of Julie Povall, Louise Povall, Kathleen
Martin, and Nancy Voltz, and dear grandmother of seven grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on January 30 at Holy Innocents
Church in Pleasantville, N.Y., followed by interment at St Francis Cemetery in
Mt Kisco, N.Y.

John Crockett, Sr
John S.G. Crockett, Sr, 58, of 21 Oakcrest Drive, Brookfield, died January 30
at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Susan (Gamble) Crockett and the
brother of Michael Crockett of Newtown.
Mr Crockett was born in England on October 2, 1940, a son of the late E.
Gordon and Phyllis (Barrett) Crockett. He attended Peekskill Military Academy
and was a 1958 graduate of Stamford High School. He had worked as a laboratory
specialist in the Research and Development Division of the IBM Corporation in
Yorktown Heights, N.Y.
He had been a Brookfield resident since 1973, moving from Stamford.
Mr Crockett had served in the US Army and was a member of the Brookfield
Sportsman's Club and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was a
member of St Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Brookfield.
Besides his wife and brother, he is survived by a son, John "Jay" Crockett,
Jr, of Brookfield; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kay and Albert Retnehr
of Danbury; two nieces and a nephew; and several aunts, uncles and cousins in
England.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated February 2 at St Marguerite
Bourgeoys Church. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Nancy J. Sager
Nancy J. Sager, 61, wife of Thomas B. Sager of 127 Sugar Street, Newtown, a
realtor with the William Pitt Agency in Danbury, died January 30, in the
Danbury Hospital.
She was born in Norristown, Pa., December 19, 1937, daughter of C. Spencer
Dressler of Newtown and the late Helen (Bauer) Dressler.
She has been a resident of Newtown since 1977.
Prior to working for the William Pitt Agency, she worked for the William
Raveis Agency in Newtown.
She was a former member of the Welcome Wagon in Newtown and the League of
Women Voters.
She is survived, besides her husband and father, by one son, Jonathan Sager of
Newtown; one daughter, Tanya Capeci of Newtown; a brother, Richard Dressler of
Edmonton, Canada; and a grandson, Bradley Capeci of Newtown.
A memorial service was held at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street,
Newtown, on February 3. Cremation was at Mt Grove Crematory, Bridgeport.

Cornell J. Siket
Cornell J. Siket, 71, husband of Julie (Szost) Siket, of Fairfield, died
suddenly February 3 in his home. He was the father of Barbara Larsen of
Newtown.
He was born in Fairfield and was a lifelong resident of the town.
Mr Siket was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a
dental technician for Zeisler's Dental Laboratory for 26 years and as a
machinist for Sturm Ruger for ten years until his retirement in 1990.
In addition to his wife of 45 years and his daughter, he is survived by two
other daughters, Marianne and Kathleen Siket, both of Fairfield; a sister,
Margaret Szost of Fairfield; a brother, George Siket of Sunset, Ariz.; and
numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Helen
Tavgerize, Ethel Gyori and Goldie Sforza; a niece, Irene Richeson, and a
nephew, James Szost.
Funeral services will be held on February 6 at 11:15 am in the Lesko Funeral
Home, 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center, with the Rev Robert Knebel
officiating. Burial will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery.
Friends may greet the family on February 5, from 4 to 8 pm.

Eugene J. Salik
Eugene J. Salik, 86, of Coconut Creek, Fla., brother of Michael Salik of
Newtown, died January 31. He was a former resident of Fairfield.
In addition to his brother, he is survived by his children, Margie Neverdousky
of Fairfield, Eugene "Jack" S. Salik of Hollywood, Fla., Holly Wasylyk of
Coconut Creek, and Robert Salik of Reno, Nev.; grandchildren, Charles
Neverdousky, Jr, Nancy Rudnik, Rosanne Beals, Kimberly Weadock, Jack, Michael
and Danny Salik, Christopher Wasylyk and Zachary Locasclo Salik; and
great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Chas Neverdousky and John and Sara Rudnik.
Donations may be made in his memory to Vitas Hospice Care, 5420 N.W. 33rd
Avenue, Ft Lauderdale, Fla. 33309.
Arrangements were by All Care Funeral Home in Florida.

Raymond Knecht
Raymond Knecht, a former resident of Newtown, died January 19 at St Joseph's
Hospital in Tampa, Fla.
Mr Knecht was born November 4, 1928, in Trumbull, the son of the late Alwin
and Katherine (Modnalowski) Knecht. He also lived in Easton, Monroe and
Brookfield before moving to Tampa six years ago.
He is survived by one son, Thomas Knecht of Washington; three daughters, Susan
Reardon of Branford, Judy Pastor of Shelton, and Jeanne Ober of Huntington;
four grandsons, Jake and Jared Knecht and Brandon and Cody Ober; one
granddaughter, Nicole Pastor; two sisters, Beatrice Thompson and Lillian
Townsend; two brothers, Edward Knecht and Daniel Knecht; and several nieces
and nephews.
A memorial service was held January 30, at Good Shephard Church, 466 Elm
Street, Monroe.

Doreen Ciccarello
Doreen Ciccarello, 43, of 124 Myrtle Avenue, Ansonia, died January 31, after a
courageous struggle with cancer.
Born August 12, 1955, in Hartford, daughter of Mario and Rose (Feole)
Ciccarello of Southington, she had been co-owner of Doreen and Tammy's Diner
in Danbury and later owner of the Sandy Hook Diner prior to her illness.
She attended local schools in Southington and attended Middlesex Community
College. She was active as a singer in the groups Niteline, King St Blues Band
and After Dark. Ms Ciccarello was artistic and musically inclined. She liked
to paint and to do sculpture.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her beloved soul mate, Michael Forte
of Ansonia and his parents, Mario and Joan Forte of Bridgeport; her sister,
Kim Albrecht of Southington; two nieces, Nicole and Erica Albrecht; a special
cousin, Brett Fabretti; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
The funeral was held February 4 from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North
Main Street, Southington, to St Aloysius Church.
Burial was in St Thomas Cemetery in Southington.

Russell Korolyshun
Russell T. Korolyshun, 81, of 15 Paugussett Road, Derby, died January 31, at
Connecticut Hospice of Branford. He was the husband of 54 years of Joan
(Ziomek) Korolyshun, and father of Mary J. McHugh of Newtown.
Born in Ansonia, September 5, 1917, he was the son of the late Theodore and
Mary (Kliwak) Korolyshun. Mr Korolyshun retired as a plant engineer from Latex
Foam in Ansonia, and previously worked at the Olin Corporation and was chief
electrical engineer at the former B.F. Goodrich Company in Shelton. He had
formerly been employed at the Sydney Blumenthal Company.
He was a lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II, serving in
the South Pacific, and was appointed to the Naval Air Station at Quancet
Point, R.I. as lieutenant commander. Mr Korolyshun was a parishioner of St
Michael's Church in Derby, member and organizer of the former Father's Club of
the church, president of the Parish Council and trustee of the church. He was
a member of the St Michael's Catholic War Veterans, Post #1562. He was a
member of the American Legion.
He was inducted into the Ansonia High School Gold Key Hall of Fame in 1997 for
his outstanding performance in football, graduating from Ansonia High School
in 1935. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed working in his orchard. He received
a degree in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnical Institute in
Massachusetts where he lettered in both football and baseball and was a member
of the Alumni Association.
Besides his wife and daughter, he is survived by five sons, Russell J.
Korolyshun of Jacksonville, Fla., John R. Korolyshun of New Haven, Richard J.
Korolyshun of Derby, Robert J. Korolyshun of Shelton, William J. Korolyshun of
Derby; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased
by a sister, Lillian Fers.
The funeral was held from the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth
Street, Derby. There was a Mass of Christian Burial in St Michael's Church,
Derby, followed by military burial in St Michael's Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St Michael's Church Fund through the funeral
home.

Gail E. Dvorsky
Gail E. Dvorsky, 53, of 280 Opening Hill Road, Madison, sister of Richard Kuhn
of Newtown, died January 30, at Middlesex Medical Center Shoreline in Essex.
She was born in Bridgeport, June 1, 1945, daughter of the late Gasper W. and
Elizabeth (Sombathy) Kuhn, Jr. She was a telemarketer for Seton Name Plate
Company in Branford. She has lived in Madison for the past 17 years and
formerly in Norristown, Penn. She attended elementary school at St Ann's in
Bridgeport and graduated from Andrew Warde High School in Fairfield.
In addition to her brother, she is survived by three sons, John Dvorsky,
Timothy Dvorsky and Brandon Dvorsky, all of Madison; three other brothers,
Roger Kuhn of Fairfield, Ronald Kuhn of Bridgeport and Keith Kuhn of
Fairfield.
A Funeral Liturgy was held January 3 at St Margaret's Church in Madison.

Laura Suzanne Hard
Laura Suzanne Hard, 56, wife of William L. Hard of 16 Russett Road, Sandy
Hook, died February 2 in Danbury Hospital.
She was born in Tampa, Fla., June 14, 1942, daughter of Robert and Laura Lou
Gregg of Chattanooga, Tenn.
Mrs Hard was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College. Following college she
was employed in the public relations department of the Young and Rubican
Advertising Agency, New York City. She then began a career with American
Airlines, first as a stewardess for four years, then as a ticket counter agent
at Bradley International Airport and San Diego International Airport.
Formerly a resident of San Diego, Calif., she lived in Newtown the past 16
years and for ten years was employed as administrative assistant for the
Newtown Chamber of Commerce.
Mrs Hard was a member of K.I.W.I. and the Daughters of the American
Revolution. In Newtown, she was a member of the Business and Professional
Women's Club and the Board of Trustees of the Cyrenius H. Booth Library.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a brother, Robert
L. Gregg, of Miami, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Newtown, at a
time and date to be announced. There are no calling hours. Cremation will take
place at Mountain Grove Crematory, Bridgeport.

Gloria May Lewis
Gloria May (Bailey) Lewis, RN, the wife of J. Charles Lewis of Maltbie Road,
Newtown, died January 29 at Danbury Hospital.
She was born in Keene Valley, N.Y., on December 11, 1930, a daughter of the
late James and Clara (Smith) Bailey. She graduated from Keene Valley High
School, and from the Fanney Allen School of Nursing in Winoski, Va. as a
registered nurse. She moved to Connecticut and worked at the Fairfield Hills
Hospital until her retirement after 35 years of service. She recently
celebrated her 50th class reunion in Lake Placid, N.Y.
Besides her husband of 43 years, she is survived by a daughter, Linda Lewis
Northrop of Southbury, three grandchildren, Danielle, Nicolle and Jordon
Northrop; a sister, Mable Stamm of Springfield, N.J.; nephews, Robert and
Russell Stamm of New Jersey; several nieces and nephews; and a son from
Argentina, Ricardo Rago. She was pre-deceased by a sister and two brothers.
Funeral services took place February 3 at the Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main
Street South, Southbury. Burial took place in the Huntingtown Cemetery in
Newtown.

Humphrey Sowle
Humphrey A. Sowle, age 68, husband of Patricia K. Sowle, of North Carolina,
formerly of Danbury, died on January 31. He was the brother of Emory I. Sowle
of Sandy Hook.
He was born in Providence, R.I., on August 23, 1930, son of the late Martin L.
Sowle and Lillian (Dyson) Sowle.
In addition to his wife and brother, Mr Sowle is survived by a son, Edward D.
Sowle; two daughters, Debra L. Kramer and Kimberly K. Sowle; two
grandchildren, Christopher M. Sowle and Meghan M. Sowle; two sisters, Gladys
Bartram of Florida and Verna Carafa of Vermont; and three other brothers,
Martin L. Sowle Jr of Rhode Island, Russell J. Sowle of California, and Melvin
L. Sowle of Florida.
There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm on
Saturday, February 6, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 48 Payne Road,
Danbury.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Watchtower Bible and
