CP Director Resigns
Louis Yacko has resigned his post as the town's civil preparedness director.
In a letter to First Selectman Herbert Rosenthal, Mr Yacko writes that he
leaves the post due to increased family commitments. In the letter, Mr Yacko
offers to continue participating in town civil preparedness situations,
including serving as a driver during storm emergencies.
In the past, the town's civil preparedness unit has made preparations for
civil emergencies. During storms, the group has delivered meals for the local
Meals on Wheels program, provided rides to and from work for nurses, and made
emergency fuel deliveries.
Bill Halstead has been named the town's new civil preparedness director. Mr
Halstead said the civil preparedness organization will be charting its course
for future activities.
Mr Halstead is chief of the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company, as
well as a deputy fire marshal for the town.
