Counseling Center To Offer Outpatient Substance Abuse Program

The Family Counseling Center will offer an outpatient substance abuse program
beginning September 22 for adults age 18-65.
Those living in the Greater Danbury and Southbury areas are eligible for
treatment. They must be substance free and committed to continued
sobriety/abstinence.
The program will offer initial screening, assessment and diagnosis,
individual, family and group therapy and psychiatric assessments. These
services will be available to clients with problems resulting from alcohol
abuse, prescriptive and/or non-prescriptive drugs and other dependency
inducing substances.
The program goals include: achievement of sobriety/abstinence, development of
positive life skills and coping mechanisms, improved communication skills and
participation in the appropriateness 12-step program.
Wendy Davenson will serve as program coordinator.

The Family Counseling Center opened its doors at 121 Mount Pleasant Road just
over a year ago. The center is a family counseling agency dedicated to helping
today's families through counseling, support groups, education and referral
services. It is supported by the United Way and is state licensed and
nationally accredited.
