Silver Stolen In New Lebanon
New Lebanon, N.Y. -- The New York State Police at Claverack are investigating
a residential burglary that occurred here sometime between Friday, August 28,
at 9 am, and Sunday, August 30, at 10 pm.
Among the stolen items is a seven-piece sterling silver tea service set
consisting of a large rectangle tray with handles and concave curves at
corners, a water kettle, a stand with burner, coffee and teapots, a sugar with
lid, a creamer without lid and a waste container without lid. All pieces are
engraved with unknown initials.
Flatware in assorted patterns was also taken, mostly antique family pieces
with initials "S," "L" or "MSS" in the form of teaspoons, sugar tongs, serving
spoons, pickle forks, a tea strainer, a sugar spoon, a berry spoon, a carving
set, a pie server, a meat fork, a fish server, a pastry server, and many other
pieces.
Twelve place settings of "Grand Baroque" flatware by Wallace (pattern still
available), including six serving spoons and other serving pieces, are also
missing, as is a German carving set, including fork, knife, sharpening steel
and poultry sheers, featuring stag handles with multi-colored engraving on the
knife.
A nine-inch footed oval silver bowl with handles, sharp-edged piercing, rim
curving in, and round ball feet; a 12-inch oval silver bowl with open-designed
piercing, rim flaring out, a scalloped edge, two indents on opposite sides
where a handle might have been, and round ball feet; a 12-inch oval silver
bowl with deep relief design, flaring at ends with hanging handles in the
shape of a wreath, one handle missing, and an oval footed base flaring out
with flat enclosed bottom; and a nine-inch square/oval silver bowl with solid
flat base and flat flared rim were also stolen.
Other items taken include a silver rectangle box, approximately seven by five
by five inches with rounded corners, flat bottom and hinged flat top; a silk
shawl, 56-inches square with a 16-inch fringe and heavy overall embroidery; a
gold and diamond necklace, with gold and blue topaz earrings and matching
pendant; an omega flat link necklace to go with the pendants; an oval rose
colored stone pendant set in gold rim with two or three small diamonds
attached to gold stems overlapping stone from top; a two-tone yellow gold free
form pendant in leaf design with a 91-point emerald floating in center
opening; and a pair opal dome earrings, one large opal pendant set in gold
teardrop shape.
Missing jewelry also includes gold earrings with two interlocking links; other
gold and perhaps silver earrings all for pierced ears; two gold coin pendants;
one American gold piece in plain gold band; one Swiss prank in a more ornate
gold band; several gold chains -- one a new rope chain approximately 24
inches, with broken clasp; two pearl necklaces -- one a graduated short strand
and one long 26 to 28 inches, matched pearls -- approximately eight to nine
millimeters in diameter; one pair of pearl earrings with gold posts,
approximately ten to 11 millimeters; and one single pearl earring with
screw-on back, seven to eight millimeters.
Also stolen was a lady's diamond ring, with one round stone surrounded by
smaller stones (one small stone missing), set in platinum; and a round gold
locket with a 1«-inch diameter and an outer circle of rubies in the shape of
the letter "O," as well as the initial "L" in diamonds and "S" in sapphires in
the middle. The locket opens with photo inside with necklace. Chain links have
flat pieces attached to top.
Miscellaneous missing jewelry and watches include a gold hatpin, seven inches
long; a smoky topaz ring, with a large rectangular stone set in gold; a fake
lady's Rolex watch; a lady's watch with a black band and black case with
"Konigs Pilsner" on face; a gold lady's watch on a long chain with slide and
one or two pearls on center of slide (crack in glass); men's watches, one a
gold Wittnauer winding watch; a silver bracelet with silver dollar in ring;
and a silver bracelet with silver English coin.
A round soft jewelry travel case, plaid on outside and dirty pink on inside
and well used, with zipper close, containing a smaller pair of pearl earrings
and other gold jewelry; two lapel pins with letters "ALC," one gold and one
silver, both with deer stag head (gold pin has ruby for deer's eye and a #2 on
back); a heavy silver box, seven by five by five inches, rectangular with
round corners, and a hinged top; a gold mechanical pencil; and a silver cup,
eight inches high, round with two handles and the initials "MSS" were also
taken.
