Jeanne Tschantz, 77 years young, born on June 1, 1945, to Dr Woodrow Wilson Lindenmuth and Mary Virginia Lindenmuth in Bryn Mawr, Penn., passed into eternal life on June 17, 2022.

Jeanne was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt, animal lover, and devoted friend to many.

After spending her early childhood years in Pennsylvania, Jeanne and her family moved to Woodbridge, Conn., where her father, Dr W.W. Lindenmuth, accepted the position of surgical professor at Yale. Jeanne spent her formative years in Woodbridge and graduated from Amity Regional High School in 1963, where she met her future husband, Michell C. Tschantz. Jeanne then graduated from Russell Sage College in 1967. Upon graduation, Jeanne joined American Airlines as a flight attendant to pursue her love of travel. Jeanne and Mich were married on June 14, 1969.

Jeanne flew for American Airlines as a flight attendant for more than 40 years, visiting cities around the world. Her career was fueled by a passion for travel, and she and Mich visited many destinations, including Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa. Her career at American created lifetime friendships with many fellow attendants who traveled and socialized together.

Jeanne and Mich lived in a variety of different places as Mich was pursuing an entrepreneurial path in business. Ultimately, they settled in Newtown, Connecticut, and built a wonderful life together. Known for her sharp wit, brilliant mind, and straight as an arrow golf swing, Jeanne found passion in golf, travel, and being a mother. She enjoyed playing many years of competitive golf, earning club championships alongside her dearest friends. Most importantly, she could consistently beat Mich on the golf course, which brought her endless pleasure and Mich endless frustration over many rounds on the course. Jeanne also had a passion for baking, and her cakes for birthdays and holidays were legendary for both taste and appearance. Whether playing golf, socializing with friends or flying around the world, Jeanne truly enjoyed life and used her quick wit and sarcastic jokes to keep everyone around her laughing.

Jeanne and Mich were married for 50 years and were thrilled in recent years to spend time with their daughter Kelly and her family, who also lived in Connecticut. Mich passed away in 2020 and he will be welcoming his “Jeannie beanie” with open arms and preparing for an eternity of completing his honey do lists. Jeanne will join Mich to rest in eternal peace at Long Ridge Union Cemetery in Stamford, Connecticut.

Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Kelly Tschantz Butz; son-in-law, Gregory D. Butz; and grandchildren, Caroline Lindy Butz and Trevor Preston Butz, who knew her as Nanna. Jeanne is also survived by her sister, Virginia L. Gilbert; nephew, Gregory A. Gilbert married to Julia Gilbert, and their children, Piper M. Gilbert and Reed W. Gilbert.

She was predeceased by her husband, Michell C. Tschantz, and nephew, Christopher A. Gilbert.

Jeanne is also survived by her beloved dog Katie, a 16-year-old Shih Tzu, who was close by her side for many years and brought her endless comfort in her final years.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jeanne’s name to the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary at cvhfoundation.org. The sanctuary is a wonderful organization local to Newtown that shares Jeanne’s deep affection for and connection with animals.
