Ukrainian Festival Set For Aug 27
The annual Ukrainian Festival will take place on Sunday, August 27, at the Paproski Christmas Tree Farm on Hattertown Road near Route 302.
The event is sponsored by the Holy Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church of Bridgeport.
The day begins at 11 am outside with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy by Rev Stepan Yanovoki, pastor of the parish. Yaroslaw Shumyhora and his choir will sing the liturgy. Afterwards, there will be Ukrainian and American food including stuffed cabbage, borsch, pyrohy, poppy seed pastries, nut rolls, and many other items.
The dayâs activities will include traditional Ukrainian dancing and songs, hay rides, pony rides, volleyball, a petting zoo, and other games for children.
There will be a short dedication service in recognition of the 10 years of Ukrainian freedom from Russia.
The public is invited to attend. Bring a chair or blanket. Donation is $1; children under 10 years old are free. For more information call Olga Paproski at 426-4017.
