Regulators Reject Rate Hike Request
BERLIN (AP) â State regulators have rejected a request from Connecticut Light & Power to raise customersâ rates as a way to recoup losses from a company billing mistake.
The company says a computer error in December resulted in nearly 2,400 unsent bills, and about $54 million in uncollected revenue.
CL&P is being allowed to collect that revenue from those customers over a 12-month period, but also had asked to raise rates to recover the cost of handling customer complaints, attending state hearings, and billing related to the error.
The state Department of Public Utility Control on August 6 denied that request, saying the problem was internal.
