Newtowner Honored For Work With Students, Seniors
John H. Gallichotte of Hattertown Road, a retired engineer, has been recognized by Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc (IEEE) peers for his volunteer teaching services.
He was chosen August 3 by IEEE Region 1 for the award because of âoutstanding effort and dedicationâ in his work with high school and college students, as well as senior citizens and special needs individuals.
The Newtowner is a volunteer leader in several Connecticut-based technology associations and gives talks frequently on robotic designs. Among his teaching and community service activities are programs and events based in Newtown, Brookfield, and Waterbury schools, the University of Bridgeport and Trinity College.
Mr Gallichotte, who earned a bachelorâs degree in physics from San Jose State College in 1958, developed numerous patents for arithmetic functions in the time domain while doing research for IBM in the research department at San Jose.
As a consultant, he designed a magnetic tape replicator for American Machinery Foundry and wrote software for Intel processors at ITT in Shelton. During nine years at Moslerâs Electronic Security Division in Danbury, he designed digital systems and received two patents. He also managed equipment and designed and built testing for naval reactors while at United Nuclear in Uncasville.
