Line In The Sand
Line In The Sand
To the Editor:
Well boys and girls â we in Newtown have finally drawn the line in the sand. Seems that some of our fine citizens (be they left or right) are taking their politics out in the paper â and some of us are forgetting why we are in Iraq.
If Iâm not mistaken, Congress (remember them?) voted the funds and the okay to move troops into Iraq. Seems there was this WMD thing that everybody was concerned about, and guess what â last month we transferred some 250 tons of yellowcake out of Iraq (where are you when we need you Joe Wilson) â believe it was even mentioned in Ms Lermanâs favorite newspaper.
Please, every time a member of the armed forces is injured or killed I grieve for them and their families. They are true heroes, but why is it that the left in this country cannot get it through their heads that we are at war with a group of fanatics that want to kill us and take away our freedom. Remember something âthe World Trade Towers are gone, along with many people killed when they came down. We did nothing to start this war other than be Americans.
I want to go on record here about the infamous banner that was on the aircraft carrier (not a destroyer, Ms Lerman) Everybody knows what the sign said (Mission Accomplished) â and it said that because the carrier had just finished its deployment.
So what do you say; letâs put down the sticks and stones and start healing over this â letâs put our energies into finding heating oil at reasonable prices for the poor and the elderly. Letâs stop using food for fuel, letâs start thinking about how we are going to keep our jobs, feed our families, keep warm this winter â letâs all communicate with our elected officials and instruct them to start working for us instead of some political party that worries about how much air we have in our tires (with no gas in the tank â maybe I can sell the tires for heating oil).
Alright, I will get off the soap box and let someone else beat me up â but Iâm still trying to figure out where I get my government cheese; do you know?
