Janet M. Zilinek, 89, of Newtown, died at Glen Hill/Harborside Health Care August 4. Mrs Zilinek was born May 28, 1919, in New York City, daughter of Frank and Mary (Gural ) Micek. She was the wife of the late Nicholas Zilinek.

Mrs Zilinek was employed by Dupont Corp of Newtown, retiring after numerous years of service. She was an avid gardener, and loved flowers and nature.

She is survived by a son, Michael Zilinek and his wife, Frauke, of Newtown; her sister, Florence Matula of Turin, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Michael S., Erik S., and Christopher N. Zilinek; three great-grandchildren Charlotte, Sophia, and Maxton; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Ted.

A gathering of friends and relatives will be held Tuesday, August 12, at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, at 6 pm, followed by a service at 7 pm. Cremation took place at the direction of the family and interment of Mrs Zilinek’s cremains will take place in St Mary Cemetery at the direction of the family.
