Joining The Party
To the Editor:
This yearâs political campaign is drawing involvement from our townâs third and largest political group ââ the unaffiliated voters. My husband John and I were two of the dozen or more people who changed their political affiliation to vote in the Newtown GOP caucus last week.
John and I are longtime residents in this town and were pleased to add our support to the candidacy of Bill Sheluck. We believe he is highly qualified and will serve the town well, if elected. And we expect he will be elected.
Equally important, we saw strength and vitality at the GOP caucus. The Republican candidates selected are a great mix of seasoned incumbents and new, highly-committed candidates.
There is new energy in Newtownâs Republican party and we are pleased to be part of it. We look forward to a fall campaign that involves all citizens and brings Newtown a more responsive government.
Sincerely,
Chris and John Wheway
