Dog Case
Police said Charles F. Morace, 51, of 7 Winding Brook Road turned himself over to them on August 6 after learning that they held a warrant for his arrest on a charge of failure to respond to an infraction and on two counts each of possession a vicious dog and allowing a dog to roam. Police said Morace did not respond to an infraction ticket that he had been issued in connection with a May 2 dog incident involving a neighbor on Winding Brook Road. Police released Morace on a $274 cash bond for an August 20 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Hanover Road
Police said motorist Nicole Diou, 20, of New Fairfield was driving a 1992 Saturn SL-2 westward on Hanover Road, near The Boulevard Extension, about 8:30 am August 6, when she encountered an eastbound vehicle approaching her.
Diou swerved to avoid that unidentified vehicle, but fishtailed and then went down an embankment, police said. Police said Diou was not injured. Police charged Diou with driving while under suspension. She was released on a $25 bond for an August 21 court appearance.
Off Route 34
Police report that motorist Kathleen Mosher, 41, of Southbury, who was driving a 1993 Buick Regal eastward on Route 34 near Old Mill Road about 4:30 pm August 6, went off the road onto the eastbound road shoulder and struck two traffic signs. Mosher was not injured. Police issued her a misdemeanor summons on charges of making a restricted turn and having insufficient automotive insurance.
Sandy Hook Crash
Motorist Anthony Feola, 39, of 42 Algonquin Trail, who was driving a 2001 Dodge pickup truck eastward on Route 34 about 7 am August 4, stopped for traffic, and was then struck from behind by motorist Robert Ewing, 30, of Brookfield, who was driving a 1999 van, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Ewing a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Dodgingtown Collision
Motorist Kristen Whitlock, 45, of Bethel, who was driving a 1987 Mitsubishi dump truck, was stopped at a stop sign on eastbound Flat Swamp Road at its intersection with Poverty Hollow Road at about 8:20 am August 6, police said. Motorist Jennifer Mulligan, 29, of New Milford, who was driving a 1999 Toyota RAV-4, was stopped behind the Mitsubishi, police said.
As the Mitsubishi was entering the intersection, it stopped and was struck from behind by the Toyota, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Mulligan a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
