'Dummies' Featured In Library Book Sale
âDummiesâ Featured In Library Book Sale
By Dottie Evans
When it comes to coping with common problems, most of us would rather say we are challenged than dumb. Whether we are trying to understand our computers or trying to raise our children, we do our best.
But a little simple advice clearly written is always appreciated.
The Dummies series of books with their how-to-tackle-any-problem approach might be just what is needed, and the Friends of the Booth Library Labor Day Book Sale might be just the place to find them.
Thanks to an overflow from publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc, the upcoming library book sale will offer Dummies books on almost every topic imaginable from A to Z, from Accounting for Dummies to Zoology for Dummies.
Just for fun, Friends of the Library volunteers have put together a rather unique collection of 13 Dummies books that offers the full range of advice. Titles include Relationships for Dummies and Dating for Dummies, Planning a Wedding for Dummies and Sex for Dummies. At the end of this particular series, there is Divorce for Dummies and Single Parenting for Dummies.
Perhaps the only topic not covered among the 1,000 new and used Dummies books that will be offered in this yearâs Labor Day Book Sale is Planning a Book Sale for Dummies. That is a subject that book sale founder Joanne Zang and her hardworking volunteers could write with their eyes closed and their hands tied behind their backs.
The Friends of the Booth Library 28th Annual Book Sale will take place Saturday, August 30, through Wednesday, September 3, and it will be open from 9 am to 5 pm every day.
More than 150,000 books will be sold in 75 categories, and there will be more than 12,000 LP records on sale. Refreshments are also available.
The book sale will take place at Bridgeport Hall on the Fairfield Hills campus and there will be signs directing visitors to the event.
Numbered admission tickets will be sold on Friday, August 29, from noon to 9 pm and Saturday, August , from 8 am to 9 am at Bridgeport Hall. Cost of the numbered tickets is $10.
The cost of general admission on Saturday will be $10 from 9 am to noon, and $5 from noon to 5 pm. Adults only are admitted on Saturday. On consecutive days, admission is free and children are welcome.
On Monday, books are sold at half price; Tuesday is $5 a bag; and Wednesday, all books are free.
