State Troubadour Has Cabaret Performances In His Hometown
RIDGEFIELD â Singer/songwriter and Connecticut State Troubadour Kevin Briody of Ridgefield will be appearing at Ridgefield Theater Barn for performances during the Third Annual Cabaret the weekend of August 23-25. Also returning will be George Wurzbach of Modern Man.
Mr Briody is a two-time finalist in the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Contest (1997 and 1998) and will be featured there in 2002. He was a recent winner at the South Florida National Song Writing Competition. Simply stated, his songs are literal and relevant, his voice is honest, and his performances are intimate. Mr Briodyâs simple style and easy sense of humor make one feel welcome, as if the stage were his own front porch.
Grammy Award nominee Dave Perry applauded him by saying: âKevin has been quietly building a catalogue of deeply emotive, well crafted songs. Like others before him â John Lennon and John Hiatt come to mind â he focuses hard on the faith and commitment that forge loveâs strongest bonds. He explores the sacred ties of friendship, considers loveâs depth when the flame wanes, and surveys the damage when love crumbles.â
Mr Briodyâs performances are âspirited and engaging. His stories, songs and humor create an evening of shared laughter and camaraderie with the audience,â said Myra Healy of The Twelfth Note Coffeehouse.
Doors for the cabaret evenings at Ridgefield Theater Barn will open at 7 pm each night, with showtime set for 8. The theater is at 37 Halpin Lane. Tickets are $20 and reservations are strongly suggested; call 203-431-9850. Audience members can BYO food and drink.
