Newtown Choral Society Sets Concert Date, Invites New Members
“Home for the Holidays” will be the theme of the winter concert of Newtown Choral Society set for Sunday, December 8.
Under the direction of Mary Andreotta and accompanied by Susan Anthony Klein, the choir will sing holiday favorites like “There’s No Place Like Home for the Holidays” as well as classics, Holst’s Christmas Day and Rutter’s Christmas Night. There will be music from Williams “Home Alone” as well as “Winter” from Wind Seasons, and “Three Harvest Home Chorales” by Danbury native Charles Ives. Finally, the choir will sing “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies” and “March of the Wooden Soldiers.”
Founded in 1986 the choir, now in its 27th year, welcomes members from all area towns and has openings in all voices. The choir performs two concerts a year and welcomes all singers.
Rehearsals are Wednesday at Newtown Middle School and begin September 11, 2013. The group meets at 7 pm.
