Double DUI
Police report that at about 7:19 pm on August 3, they were alerted that there was a possibly intoxicated man standing outside a van at the gasoline pumps at the Mobil gas station at 62 Church Hill Road, so they went there to investigate.
That investigation showed that the man was intoxicated and that he had been driving, so police charged Scott P. Cotton, 38, of Forth Worth, Texas, with driving under the influence and with driving without a license, police said.
Police then transported Cotton to the police station for processing.
While he was in custody, Newtown police learned that police in Berlin, Conn., wanted Cotton on an outstanding warrant on charges of second-degree failure to appear in court, driving under the influence, reckless driving, and driving without a license.

The ignition switch in that unspecified vehicle was broken, police said.
Police charged the person with third-degree larceny in connection with the autoâs theft and also with first-degree criminal trover in connection with damage to the ignition switch.
Police categorized the person arrested as a âyouthful offender,â meaning that the person is either 16 or 17 years old and thus whose identity is shielded from disclosure by state law.
Police held that youthful offender on $5,000 bail for an arraignment on August 5 in Danbury Superior Court.
