Newtown Trashed

To the Editor:

There is a bumper sticker – Nicer in Newtown – no it is not. Walk along the roads in the center of town and you will see tons of litter.

I walk my dog every day along Elm Drive, Main Street, and around Fairfield Hills. I could easily fill a large trash bag with all the litter – water bottles, soda and beer cans, coffee cups, broken glass and mounds of paper.

What happened to cleaning up the environment? Are we becoming a bunch of earth pigs? Maybe a few trash cans placed around town would help. One up on Castle Hill next to the bench, one down by Ram Pasture where people sit and drink coffee as they watch the ducks. And some outside the coffee shops in town.

Let’s all pitch in and keep our town a beautiful New England town – Nicer in Newtown!
