Wallet Found
On July 30, a wallet containing identification for a New York resident was found in the parking lot at Sand Hill Plaza, a shopping center at 228 South Main Street (Route 25). To claim the wallet, the owner may contact police.
Windshield
Police report that about 5:43 pm on July 31, they stopped motorist Christopher Veness, 22, of 3 Prospect Terrace because the vehicle that he was driving a had a large crack in its front windshield.
After investigating, police charged Veness with driving a vehicle with a defective windshield and driving with a suspended license.
Police said they released Veness on a written promise to appear August 18 in Danbury Superior Court.
Marijuana Incident
About 9:20 am on July 29, police received a call reporting that a youth was smoking marijuana at the Reed Intermediate School property at 3 Trades Lane, so they went to the area to investigate.
After investigating, police charged a 14-year-old boy with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and with possession of drug paraphernalia. Because the boy is under age 18, his identity is shielded from disclosure by state law.
Police said they placed the boy into the custody of his father. The youth is scheduled to appear August 9 in Danbury Juvenile Court to answer the charges.
Keys Found
On July 27, police took possession of a set of keys that had been found at the intersection of South Main Street and Greenbriar lane. For information on claiming the lost keys, the owner should contact police.
Dual Impacts
Police report that a deer was struck by two vehicles on Berkshire Road on the night of July 27.
At about 8:52 pm, motorist Kyle Desrochers, 18, of Southbury was driving a 2003 Chevrolet K-1500 pickup truck northward on Berkshire Road, when a deer entered the road and collided with the truck, police report.
 The deer then ran into the roadâs opposite lane and was struck by southbound motorist Daniel Boocks, 41, of Derby, who was driving a 2010 Jeep Liberty SUV, police said.
The deer died as a result of the impacts, police said. The motorists were not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Four Charges
Police report that while on traffic enforcement duty, they stopped motorist Luis Castillo, 31, of Danbury near 31 Dodgingtown Road to investigate at about 5:15 pm July 30.
Police said they charged Castillo with failure to display a front marker plate, driving without a license, driving without automotive insurance, and driving with a suspended vehicle registration.
Following processing, police released Castillo on $100 bail to appear in court on August 12.
Chevrolet Vs Kia
A two-vehicle accident occurred about 5:52 pm on July 27 near 71 South Main Street, according to police.
Motorist Tara Hiteshew, 18, of 30 Pleasant Hill Road, who was driving a 2003 Kia Spectra sedan northward on South Main Street, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Kia was struck from behind by northbound motorist Mike Casey, 34, of 29 Buttonball Drive, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet K-2500 pickup truck, according to police.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Casey a written warning for following too closely.
Fairfield Hills
Based on a call from Fairfield Hills security staff, police went to the town-owned property at about 3:40 pm July 25 to investigate a report that people had entered the large vacant Kent House there, which had served as a patient residence hall at the former state psychiatric hospital.
Police said that after investigating, they charged both Timothy Chapman, 18, of Naugatuck and Debra Smith, 29, of Shelton each with third-degree criminal trespassing and third-degree criminal mischief.
Police said they released Chapman and Smith on written promises to appear in court on August 10.
Mailbox
Sometime between 11:30 am and 1 pm on August 2, someone stole a white curbside residential mailbox from 31 Brushy Hill Road, police report. The address is near Dickinson Park. Police are investigating the theft and ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 203-426-5841.
South Main Crash
Police report a two-vehicle accident on South Main Street about 8:20 am July 29.
Southbound motorist Robin Kinney, 52, of New Milford, who was driving a 2009 Hyundai SUV, stopped for traffic conditions and was struck from behind by southbound motorist Asha Cunningham, 25, of Danbury, who was driving a 2004 Chrysler sedan, police report.
There were no injuries. Police said they issued Cunningham a written warning for following too closely.
Truck/Sedan Collision
About 5:30 pm July 24, a two-vehicle accident happened at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Walnut Tree Hull Road, police report.
In that incident, motorist Steve Svanda, 19, of 7 Evergreen Road, who was driving a 2001 Honda sedan eastward on Church Hill Road, slowed, signaled, and then stopped in preparing to make a left turn onto Walnut Tree Hill Road, police said.
Motorist Devin Mulligan, 22, of 159 Toddy Hill Road, who was driving a 1999 Ford pickup truck eastward on Church Hill Road, then struck the rear end of the Honda, police report.
Newtown ambulance volunteers treated and released Svanda at the scene, police said. Mulligan was issued a written warning for following too closely, police said.
Warrant
Police report that on August 3, prisoner Victor Stendbergh, 22, of 7 Sugar Street was transported to Danbury Superior Court where they arrested him on a warrant, charging him with third-degree forgery and fifth-degree larceny.
Police said those charges stem from an August 25, 2009, incident on which they had received a complaint last September 2.
Stendbergh was arraigned in court on the charges on August 3. He is serving a one-year sentence at Bridgeport Correctional Center on a conviction for violation of probation.
