PEKALE Antitques in OLD STEEPLE CHURCHYARD SHOW, w/2 cuts

ak/lsb set 747775

AQUEBOGUE, N.Y. — Antiques In The Churchyard at Olde Steeple Church, managed by Elias Pekale Shows Ltd, returns on Saturday, August 23, for the 30th consecutive year. This very poplar, decidedly customer-friendly show, with the spirit of an old-fashioned family reunion, generates as much excitement as the celebrated church itself.

The church has been designated a New York State landmark; its steeple served as a lookout during the Revolutionary War. The spacious grounds of the country church serve as a backdrop for the more than 65 quality antiques dealers who are exhibiting here, from 9 am to 4:30 pm. A variety of styles and periods, including heirlooms and memorabilia,  will be featured. Rain date is September 1.

“It’s truly been a tradition for us,” said promoter Sheila Pekale. “Elias Pekale Shows began on Long Island’s Northfork, and Olde Steeple was our first show. So many of our customers continue to come, it’s almost like a family reunion. One year, the weather threatened rain, so we opened an hour later. One customer said she was glad we didn’t cancel as she had driven out from Brooklyn, and that’s a two-and-a-half -hour drive.”

Dealers will be set up on the church grounds and under tents, displaying Nineteenth and Twentieth Century quality furniture and decorative accessories. Irene Nardolillo brings “funky” as well as cottage country furnishings; Susan Poole will display fine vintage linen; Hodge Podge Emporium displays ceramics and Depression glass; Andrea Meyer of Something Old, Something New, East Northport, will show vintage handbags with fine quality hand painted porcelain; and Harry & Ginny of Brookhaven will feature French and other enamel ware.

Paula Cohen of Your Grandma Had It, Westhampton Beach, features McCoy and an extensive collection of cookie jars. Primitives and Americana is offered by Terri Chipperfield. Vintage costume and estate jewelry, silver, postcards, Depression glass, and much more are all waiting to be discovered.

The church is on Main Road, Route 25, and is easily accessible from New York via the Long Island Expressway. Expressway East to Riverhead, continue on Route 25 for five miles to the church or by Long Island Railroad to Riverhead Station.

Admission is $5.50 per person. For more information, www.pekaleshows.com or 516-868-2751.
