PORTLAND MUSEUM OFFERS AUGUST 18 PLEIN AIR TRIP TO NORTH CONWAY, N.H.

PORTLAND, MAINE â The Portland Museum of Art will sponsor a plein air painting trip to North Conway, N.H., on Saturday, August 18.
The museumâs education staff will lead a journey to some of the favorite painting spots of Harrison Bird Brown, who can be seen in the exhibition, âVividly True to Nature: Harrison Bird Brown 1831â1915.â All skill levels will be inspired to sketch and paint their own rendition of the views Brown loved.
At 10 am, participants will meet at the Conway Scenic Railroad in North Conway, N.H. First they will take an hourlong scenic train ride through the picturesque Mount Washington Valley. Then a box lunch will be provided as attendees gather in the same painting spots that Brown painted along the valley. Local historian David Emerson to talk about the area and prominent figures of Brownâs day. Then have the afternoon to sketch or paint while taking in the views.
