DANBURY â James W Schmotter assumed the presidency of Western Connecticut State University on August 2 to becoming the universityâs eighth president. He succeeded James R. Roach, who recently retired after serving WestConn for 12 years.
Dr Schmotterâs experience includes serving as dean of the Haworth College of Business and professor of management at Western Michigan University for seven years. He also served as dean of the College of Business and Economics at Lehigh University in Lehigh, Penn.
He also served for 14 years as an administrator and teacher at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, serving as associate dean and director of International Studies. He also taught at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton.
