“A Day To Make A Difference” In The Lives Of Children

DANBURY — The Danbury Hospital Development Fund invites the public to attend this year’s “A Day to Make a Difference” celebration hosted by the Portuguese Cultural Center. The event will take place on Sunday, September 30, at 12:30 pm. The Portuguese Cultural Center is at 65 Sand Pit Road in Danbury.

The Danbury Hospital Department of Pediatrics will benefit from this day of international foods, children’s cultural games, and entertainment, including a silent and live auction. Families attending the program will be able to attend an international brunch while enjoying Portuguese folklore dancing and other multicultural activities. The cost to attend the brunch, which begins at 12:30 pm, is $75 per person; reservations are required. Children under 12 are admitted free and will be served a special children’s luncheon.

Guests will have a chance to bid on donated items ranging from gift baskets, artwork, and children’s toys to vacations and jewelry, donated by local businesses and loyal supporters.

There is a donated auction item of interest in every price range and in a wide variety of goods and services from popular local vendors and businesses.

Vendors and businesses interested in participating by donating auction item(s) for this event will be welcome. Those wishing to attend the auction only may do so at no charge. Action items may be previewed at 2:30 pm. The live auction will start at 3 pm.

In past years “A Day to Make a Difference” has raised funds for the Wellness on Wheels™ and several other pediatric and adolescent outreach programs through the Danbury Hospital Department of Pediatrics. For more information about attending “A Day to Make a Difference,” or to donate an item for the auction, call the Danbury Hospital Development Fund at 797-7227.
