Nora Marron Loughran, 78 of Monroe, previously of Greenwich, died August 2, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, with her family by her side, after a courageous two-year battle with breast cancer. She was the beloved wife of the late Peter J. Loughran. She was born January 19, 1933, to Mary Kate (Butler) and Thomas Marron.
Ms Loughran will be sadly missed by her five children, including Maureen Shimko-Longcoy, and her husband Jim, of Newtown; 14 grandchildren; and three siblings. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
She grew up in Stamford and moved to Greenwich, where she devoted her life to raising her children. She was a longtime member of the Greenwich Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, serving as president of the Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She worked for many years as a private duty CNA at Wilton Meadows.
Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, August 4, from 4 to 8 pm, in Leo P. Gallagher and Sons, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, August 5, at 11 am, in Sacred Heart Church, 95 Henry Street, Byram, Conn. Interment will follow at St Maryâs Cemetery, Greenwich.Â
