Former Danbury Mayor And

State Representative

James E. Dyer, 64, died unexpectedly, July 26, at his Danbury home. He was born in Danbury, September 20, 1946, a son of Mary (Murphy) and Thomas J. Dyer.

A former mayor of Danbury, Mr Dyer is survived by his wife of 26 years, Alice (Wenzler) Dyer; three sisters, including Eileen Jensen of Newtown; a daughter, Whitney Dyer; three sons, Lance Corporal Christopher Dyer of the US Marine Corps, Brendan, and Trevor; as well as several other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother and a nephew.

He attended Danbury schools and graduated from Western Connecticut State University. Mr Dyer served as mayor Danbury from 1979 to 1987, and served two terms in the General Assembly prior to becoming mayor.

A Mass of Christian Burial for was celebrated August 1. Interment was private. The Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, Danbury, was in charge of arrangements.
