Victor A. Checca

Victor A. Checca, 67, of Monroe, died July 29 at his home with his loving family by his side.

 Survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years, Lorraine (Russo) Checca; his loving children, Lisa Dickinson of Newtown, Gina Ferrante and husband, John, of Suwanee, Ga., and Anthony Checca and wife, Kerry, of Stratford; his cherished grandchildren, Haley and Tyler Dickinson; siblings, twin brother Bruno Checca of Fairfield, Dora Suffoletta of Bridgeport, Amedeo Checca of Florida, Robert, Julio, and Rudy Checca of Trumbull; and several nieces and nephews.

Born in Pettorano, Sul Gizio, Abruzzi, Italy, he was the son of Giovanni and Donata (Bonitatibus) Checca. He was a Bridgeport resident for most of his life, residing in Monroe for the past 27 years.

Mr Checca was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps and a retired letter carrier for the US Postal Service for more than 30 years in the Fairfield area.

He was an active member of Trout Unlimited (stocking local rivers and streams), an active hunter, fisherman, gardener, and outdoorsman, as well as an avid skier in his earlier years. He will be remembered as a fine wine maker.

He was an usher and a part of the maintenance crew for St Jude’s Parish, Monroe, and was a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend to those that knew him.

Funeral services were held August 1 in St Jude’s Church, Monroe. Interment was in St John’s Cemetery, Monroe.
