Toyota Rollover

At about 1:50 am July 28, motorist Thomas Guglielmi, 29, of 20 Gelding Hill Road was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry eastward on Route 34, near its intersection with Old Mill Road, when the auto went off the right road shoulder, struck an embankment, rolled over onto its roof and then came to rest in the eastbound lane, police report.

Guglielmi was able to get out of the overturned auto by crawling out of the driver’s window, police said.

Ambulance volunteers transported Guglielmi to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police report. Sandy Hook firefighters went to the accident. Police said the accident is under investigation.

Sandy Hook Collision

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Wasserman Way and Route 34 about 10:13 pm July 27.

Motorist Annette Matthews, 56, of Danbury, who was driving a 1998 Honda Passport on Wasserman Way, stopped at a red traffic signal at the intersection and was then struck from behind by motorist Alan Froehlich, 52, of Lakeview Terrace, who was driving a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass, police report.

There were no injuries. Police issued Froehlich an infraction ticket for following too closely.

Burglary/Larceny

On the morning of July 29 in Danbury Superior Court, police arrested Jason Klein, 20, of Monroe on warrants on multiple charges of third degree burglary and third degree larceny in connection with residential burglaries that occurred in March on Washbrook Road and on Hattertown Road. The charges are felonies.

An investigation into the house breaks linked Klein to the crimes, police said. Some of the items that were stolen were recovered at pawn shops in Milford and Shelton, police said.

After being arraigned on the charges in court, a judge set Klein’s bail on the burglary/larceny charges $75,000, police said. Klein was being held this week on $317,100 bail overall in the New Haven Correctional Center on various charges.

Motorist Charged

About 6:19 pm on July 31, police stopped motorist Saeed Farahani, 21, of Bethel on Berkshire Road and lodged charges of failure to display a front marker plate and driving while under suspension. After processing the arrest, police released Farahani on a written promise to appear August 30 in Danbury Superior Court.

Jeep Vs Ford

Motorist Matthew Popp, 33, of Bethel, who was driving a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was traveling southward on The Boulevard about 12:52 pm July 25, and then stopped at a stop sign at The Boulevard’s intersection with Church Hill Road, police said.

At that time, motorist Michael Testa, 30, of Bridgeport was driving a 2003 Ford Focus westward on Church Hill Road, police said.

The Jeep then attempted to turn left onto eastbound Church Hill Road, but collided with the westbound Ford, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they gave Popp a written warning for a stop sign violation.

 

Pontiac Vs Deer

Motorist Erin Sussman, 26, of New York City was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix on Mt Pleasant Road about 7:47 pm July 22, when a deer ran out onto the road and collided with the auto, police said.

The deer died. Sussman was not injured, police said.

Motorhome Accident

Motorist Peter Sioma, 59, of Cumberland, Md., who was driving a 1989 Sunland motorhome eastward on Church Hill Road at about 5 pm July 26, attempted to turn right from the through-traffic lane onto eastbound Interstate 84’s Exit 10 on-ramp, but in doing so, collided with motorist John Pauley, 50, of Southbury, who was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup truck in Church Hill Road’s eastbound right-turn-only lane for the on-ramp, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Sioma a written warning for a lane violation.

Main Street Crash

About 4 pm on July 26, motorist Sheila Engeldrum, 26, of Monroe, who was driving a 2004 Honda Civic southward on Main Street, near West Street, stopped in traffic and was struck from behind by southbound motorist Arthur Nelson, 85, of 14 Park Lane, who was driving a 1998 Chrysler Cirrus, police said.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Nelson for following too closely.

Sandy Hook Accident

Motorist Peter Bernson, 45, of 39 Paugussett Road, who was driving a 2001 Subaru Outback eastward on Wasserman Way about 10:17 pm July 23, stopped for approaching traffic as he was attempting to make a right turn onto Route 34, police said.

Motorist Dominik Myslinski, 22, of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., who was driving a 1998 Mazda Protégé, then drove into the rear end of the of the Subaru, police said. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Myslinski for following too closely.

Prospect Man

On July 30, police served a warrant against Anthony Diorio, 18, of Prospect, charging him with failure to respond to a town ordinance parking violation, police said. Police released Diorio on $250 bail for an August 11 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

 

Graffiti Vandalism

On July 31, police responded to a report of two youths using spray paint to deface the concrete bridge piers for Interstate 84, which are located near the intersection of The Boulevard and Hanover Road.

Police said they went to the area and found two youths walking along railroad tracks there with a bag of aerosol paint cans and with paint on their hands.

Police said the two youths allegedly spray painted graffiti at several locations in that area.

Police arrested Ryan Christenson, 17, and David Skurja, 18, both of Wallingford, on charges of third degree criminal mischief. Police released both youths on promises to appear August 11 in Danbury Superior Court.

Interstate DUI

State police said they spotted motorist Frank Cybulski, 53, of Southbury make a motor vehicle violation on eastbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 11, about 8 pm July 27, so they stopped him to investigate.

State police said Cybulski failed field sobriety testing, after which they charged him with driving under the influence, driving while under suspension, and failure to drive in the established lane. State police released Cybulski from custody on $1,000 bail for an August 8 court appearance.

 

DUI Arrest

Police said that early on the morning of August 1, they observed motorist Ingrid Bergquist, 43, of 134 South Main Street driving a 1990 Honda Prelude eastward on Mt Pleasant Road, which was  crossing over the road’s line markings and traveling onto the road’s shoulder. Police said they followed the vehicle and then stopped it on South Main Street, near Country Club Road.

Police said Bergquist failed field sobriety tests, after which they charged her with driving under the influence and making a restricted turn. After posting $60 bail, police released Bergquist for an August 16 court appearance.

Warrant At Court

Police report they served a warrant on the morning of August 1 at Danbury Superior Court against Julio Delgado, 31, of Danbury, who was appearing at court on unrelated charges.

 The warrant listed charges of second degree failure to appear in court, driving under suspension, driving without automotive insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle, misuse of marker plates, and making a restricted turn, police said. Those charges stem from a June 2004 incident.

Delgado was arraigned on those six charges on August 1. Delgado was being held this week on $2,000 bail at the Bridgeport Correctional Center.

Truck Accident

Motorist Kyler Schoonmaker, 18, of Torrington was driving a 1989 Ford F-250 pickup truck southward on Walnut Tree Hill Road, near Bridge End Farm Lane, about 9:30 pm July 31, when Schoonmaker misjudged a curve in the road and struck a curb, police said.

The impact caused a tire to dislodge from the vehicle, with the truck then striking a bridge abutment, police said.

Neither Schoonmaker nor a passenger were injured. Police issued Schoonmaker an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.

Moving Violations

About 9 am August 2, police said they spotted motorist Sheldon Mayne, 21, of Bridgeport driving on Wasserman Way with inoperative brake lamps.

Police stopped Mayne to investigate and charged him with driving while under suspension and with failure to have functional brake lamps. Mayne is scheduled to appear August 16 in Danbury Superior Court.

Poverty Hollow

Police said they spotted motorist Thomas Collentine, 38, of New Milford driving a 1996 Mercury Tracer southward on Poverty Hollow Road at 55 miles per hour in a 30-mph zone about 6:46 am August 2. Police pulled over Collentine to investigate and charged him with driving while under suspension and traveling too fast.

After processing, police released Collentine for an August 23 court appearance.

Violations

Police said they learned on July 30 that Anthony Diorio, 18, of Prospect had parked a vehicle in the fire lane in front of the Big Y supermarket at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street.

After investigating, police charged Diorio with illegal parking in a fire lane and with illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle.

Police released Diorio on $250 bail for a an August 11 court appearance.

Sandy Hook Accident

Motorist Edward Ratigan, 34, of 6 Vining Road, who was driving a 2001 Subaru Legacy sedan on Berkshire Road near its intersection with Toddy Hill Road, stopped for traffic about 5 pm August 2, police report.

Motorist Peter MacKay, 20, of 12 Walker Hill Road, who was driving a 1993 Honda Civic, struck the Subaru from behind, police said.

Dacia Ratigan, 35, who was a passenger in the Subaru, reported neck pain, but refused medical attention, police said. Sandy Hook firefighters responded to the scene.

Police issued MacKay an infraction for following too closely.
