Sunday, September 11 â The Bedford Riding Lanes Association Fall Pace will be held Sunday, September 11, from 8 am to 12 noon (lunch from 12 noon to 2 pm), at the John Jay Homestead State Historic Site on Route 22 in Katonah, New York. Entries close August or when pace is full (130 teams). Visit www.bedfordridinglanes.com for further information.

Sunday, September 25 â The Middlebury Bridle Lands Association Fall Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, September 25, at Larkin Farm on South Street in Middlebury. To register for a time, call Shawnalee Kwashnak at 203-598-0065.

Sunday, October 2 â The Lewisboro Horsemanâs Association Fall Country Pace will be held Sunday, October 2, at the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River, New York. Times will be from 8 am to 12 noon with lunch served from 11 am to 2 pm. Call 1-914-763-6967 for further information.

Sunday, October 9 â The Greenwich Riding and Trails Association Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, October 9, from 8 am to 12 noon, at the June Hill Farm on June Road in Greenwich. Lunch will be served at 12:30 pm. Call Claire Reed at 203-324-0434 after September 9.

Sunday, October 30 â The Newtown Bridle Lands Association Frost on the Pumpkin Pace will be held Sunday, October 30, from 8 am to 12 noon, on Mount Nebo Road. Lunch will be served from 11 am to 2 pm. Entries close October 27 or when pace is full. Special prizes will be given for best costumed team, the oldest horse and rider combination, and the Peanut Award for the youngest rider. All paces â

4Require approved protective head gear (safety helmets) and suitable riding footwear (boot with heel).

4Have four divisions: Hunt, Pleasure or Hacking, Junior and Western.

4Western teams must have at least one Western Rider.

4Junior Teams must have at least one Junior rider.

4Will be held rain or shine.

4Will have go-rounds at all fences.

4Will award ribbons first through 10th place in each division with riders accumulating points towards series awards.

Some facts to consider. A total of 40,00 trips a day take place on Rt 25, The Castle Hill project will add less than 1%. Cluster homes are already an approved concept for the Borough, because it preserves open land and builds homes with sewer and public water. I'm Suggesting the Zoning Board should approve this because its a proposal that meets conservation goals and "checks" all the boxes.

How do you propose tapping the brakes, Dave? 8-30g already trumps any local regulations- you don't have a brake pedal to push. Brookfield, Trumbull and now Ridgefield have a clear case for a moratorium based on the development (thanks to 8-30g) that has already occurred. I don't see a clear case for Newtown to request a moratorium... yet.

Backs Moratorium On Dense Development Applications

Nobody is suggesting shutting the doors on new neighbors. What neighboring towns are doing, and what we should be doing too, is to tap the brakes on all of the multi-family residential development proposals so that we can spend 6 months updating our regulations such that if you want to build dense residential housing here, XX percent of it needs to be affordable (we will never make any headway on increasing our percentage of affordable housing otherwise, short of 8-30g), and the rest needs to be done in as low an impact manner as possible. Low impact on traffic, health & safety, the environment and on the cost of town services.
