Mary (Palumbo) Arbas, 77, of Shelton, died July 26 at the Maefair Health Center, Trumbull. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond Fernandez.
Survivors include her four loving daughters, Virginia and her husband, Ronald Vandeweerdt, of Newtown, Diane and her husband, John Coniglio, of Shelton, Victoria and her husband, Chris Pelletier, of Trumbull, and Elizabeth and her husband, Michael Steven, of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons, David Fernandez and Matthew Arbas and his wife, Cathy, of New York; one sister, Rose Palumbo of Bridgeport; her cherished grandchildren, Johnnie and Kyle Coniglio, Jake, Robyn, and Alec Pelletier, Zachary and Eric Vandeweerdt, Jordan Steven, Canesa, and Emillio Arbas; one special nephew, Michael Connelly and his wife, Alicia, and son, Cameron. She was predeceased by one sister, Louise Connelly.
Mrs Arbas was born in Bridgeport on November 14, 1927, to Michele and Frances Rua Palumbo. She loved reading, sewing, and crafts. She especially enjoyed watching the TV game show Jeopardy.
She was a wonderful, loving, and caring mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She touched everyone she met and people will remember her bright and shining smile.
The funeral service was held on July 30 at the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, Monroe, and in St Lawrence Church, Shelton, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed in St Michaelâs Cemetery, Stratford.
