John Kinivil

John Kinivil, 75, of Southbury, formerly of Danbury, died July 27 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury.

Mr Kinivil was born August 9, 1929, the son of Edith (Schrull) Kinivil and the late John Kinivil.

Besides his mother, he is survived by a sister Margaret Greenman of Newtown; as well as one niece and one nephew.

A World War II and Korean Army veteran, he served with the 61st Army Band APO 69 as a drummer and was awarded the Army Occupation of Japan Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the National Defense Service medal as well as the Combat Infantry Badge. He worked as a cook for several institutions including Fairfield Hills Hospital, WestConn, and local nursing homes. He was an active member of the Korean Veterans of Danbury, the VWF Post 149, the American Legion Post 0060, and was active in the organizations as a drummer. He also played in several local bands.

A graveside urn burial was held August 3 at Union Cemetery in Stratford with military honors.
