DUI Arrest

Police said that early on the morning of August 1, they observed motorist Ingrid Bergquist, 43, of 134 South Main Street driving a 1990 Honda Prelude eastward on Mt Pleasant Road, which was  crossing over the road’s line markings and traveling onto the road’s shoulder. Police said they followed the vehicle and then stopped it on South Main Street, near Country Club Road.

Police said Bergquist failed field sobriety tests, after which they charged her with driving under the influence and making a restricted turn. After posting $60 bail, police released Bergquist for an August 16 court appearance.

Warrant At Court

Police report they served a warrant on the morning of August 1 at Danbury Superior Court against Julio Delgado, 31, of Danbury, who was appearing at court on unrelated charges.

The warrant listed charges of second degree failure to appear in court, driving under suspension, driving without automotive insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle, misuse of marker plates, and making a restricted turn, police said. Those charges stem from a June 2004 incident.

Delgado was arraigned on those six charges on August 1. Delgado was being held this week on $2,000 bail at the Bridgeport Correctional Center.

Truck Accident

Motorist Kyler Schoonmaker, 18, of Torrington was driving a 1989 Ford F-250 pickup truck southward on Walnut Tree Hill Road, near Bridge End Farm Lane, about 9:30 pm July 31, when Schoonmaker misjudged a curve in the road and struck a curb, police said.

The impact caused a tire to dislodge from the vehicle, with the truck then striking a bridge abutment, police said.

Neither Schoonmaker nor a passenger were injured. Police issued Schoonmaker an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.

Moving Violations

About 9 am August 2, police said they spotted motorist Sheldon Mayne, 21, of Bridgeport driving on Wasserman Way with inoperative brake lamps.

Police stopped Mayne to investigate and charged him with driving while under suspension and with failure to have functional brake lamps. Mayne is scheduled to appear August 16 in Danbury Superior Court.
