August 21 – The Siberian Husky Club and Rescue of Southern New England will hold its Fourth Annual Picnic/Rescue Fundraiser and Fun Match on Sunday, August 21 at the Putnam Memorual Park in Redding (rain date is August 28). The event will be held from 11 am to 4 pm and is for owners of purebred Siberian Huskies. Bring your Siberian(s), kids, picnic baskets, chairs, picnic blankets, disposable bags for doggie deposits, and plenty of water for your Siberians(s). Grills and picnic tables are available in the park. There will be fun and games for people and Siberians of all ages! All dogs must be secured on a “short leash.” You will also be able to meet our Siberians who are available for adoption. September 11 – The 4-H Nutmeg Benefit Horse Show will be held Sunday, September 11, at the Cooperative Extension System grounds on Route 6 in Bethel. The Open Schooling show features divisions in English Equitation, Hunt Seat, Western and Trail. Most classes will be pinned through sixth place with the first-place winner also receiving a trophy. November 10-13 – The eighth annual Equine Affaire will be held Thursday, November 10, through Sunday, November 13, at the Eastern States Exposition grounds in West Springfield, Massachusetts.
