Art For Animals: Call For Artists
Art For Animals: Call For Artists
RIDGEFIELD â Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue is issuing a call to artists and fellow animal lovers everywhere for animal art entries. Entries are being sought for exhibition and sale during âA Party for Petsâ Sake,â to take place in October at The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art.
Any animal(s) may be depicted in any medium. Jimmy Grashow, a Redding woodcut artist who has been creating works that address the themes of man, nature and mortality since the 1960s, will jury all art into the show. The collection will be on exhibition at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum only during ROARâs gala event on Saturday, October 29.
All work must be for sale, and 50 percent of the sale price will benefit ROAR to support the operation of its newly constructed animal shelter.
Award ribbons will be displayed with the art during the event. Ribbons will declare Best in Show, Best in Breed (for each medium), and Best Mixed Breed (for mixed media). Because the show and sale benefits a non-profit organization, organizers feel it would be inappropriate to award cash prizes.
A $10 non-refundable processing fee is to be paid at time of delivery of artwork. Checks must be included with mailed pieces. Checks should be made out to Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue, or ROAR. Any piece arriving without the processing fee will not be accepted.
Work is to be delivered to Fastframe, 23 Governor Street in Ridgefield (telephone 203-894-8000) between Monday, September 26 and Saturday, October 8, between 10 am and 5 pm Monday through Saturday.
Work must be protected for storage and show the artistâs name, address and phone number clearly marked on the outside of the packaging.
Artists whose work has been accepted into the show will receive a phone call on October 22 or 23.
