Women Involved In Newtown (WIN) is gearing up for the first annual Newtown Road Race ⦠and they think the rest of you should, as well.
âWomen Involved in Newtown does charitable work to help those in need in Newtown,â said president Denise Tramposch. âOur biggest projects are the Easter baskets and Thanksgiving baskets that are distributed to families in our community during those holidays. We are excited to participate in the Newtown Road Race benefiting Newtown Youth Services as well as the other important work and fundraising we do throughout the year.â
The Road Race will be held Saturday, September 2, and will feature a 5K and Kidâs Run. The 5K will start at 9 am and the Kidâs Run will start at 10:15 am, both beginning and ending at Dickinson Park. The course is flat, fast, and USTAF certified. Divisions will be 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ and prizes will be $100 for first, $75 for second and $50 for third.
The first 500 entrants will receive a t-shirt designed by one of Newtownâs students. Walkers, runners and jogging strollers are all invited to participate.
