Dream Homes Community Center Announces New Staff
The Dream Homes Community Center (DHCC) has hired a new full-time program director, Karl Myers, and a part-time homeless coordinator, the Reverend Elizabeth Braddon. Dream Homes Community Center is a new program that is a collaboration of the Association of Religious Communities, WeCAHR, The Housing Authority of the City of Danbury, and People First.
This new program serves three housing populations: homeless, renters, and first time home buyers. The City of Danbury, Office of the Mayor, Common Council is providing partial funding in conjunction with the Mayorâs Task Force To End Homelessness Ten-Year Plan.
Karl Myers has strong experience with starting new programs in both private and nonprofit industries. Recent accomplishments include the start-up of the Learn and Earn Program at Danbury Youth Services, where he was the assistant program director, and most recently with the Oratory of the Little Way, not for profit interfaith healing ministry in Gaylordsville. As treasurer of New Milford Homeless Shelter Coalition Mr Myers is familiar with the issues surrounding homelessness and is excited about the opportunity to be part of Dream Homes Community Center.
Rev Elizabeth Braddon is an ordained United Methodist Minister. She holds both a Masters of Divinity and MS in Nonprofit Management. In addition to her new role at Dream Homes she has been the Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Brewster, N.Y., since 2004; she is also currently working with an ecumenical group in Brewster to address homelessness there. She has previous experience in housing corporations in Branford, Conn., and Brooklyn, N.Y.
