Securing State Ports With Video
NEW HAVEN (AP) â New Haven officials are leading an effort to link the security at Connecticutâs three deep-water ports with a single video-monitoring system.
The New Haven Register reports the city plans to apply for up to $600,000 in federal Homeland Security grants to pay for system, which would link cameras in New Haven with those installed in ports in New London and Bridgeport.
The idea would be to create a single video platform that could be used by the U.S. Coast Guard and other law-enforcement agencies to monitor all the ports at the same time.
The proposal to apply for the grant money went before a committee of New Havenâs Board of Aldermen this week.
