Community Dance At The Library

Pat and Leon Barkman hooked their arms together and swung one another around. Behind them, dance caller Patricia Campbell saw several people peek into the room. “Come join the circle, do you want to do this dance?” she asked.

With a keyboard, guitar, flute, and a fiddle, the four-man band kept guests hopping during a community dance event on June 20 at the C.H. Booth Library. With a bout 20 participants breaking into groups of two and four, Ms Campbell stood in the center of the room watching the partners spin, sidestep, and skip through the routines.

“Join hands,” she said. “Face your partner and do the do-si-do.”

As dancers swirled, the band — Fran Hendrickson on keys, Bill Campbell on guitar, Julie Sorcek on flute, and Susan Hill on fiddle — kept the beat.
