Newtown police arrested a Danbury man on drug possession charges following a traffic stop.

On July 25, Newtown Police Sergeant Adam James performed a traffic stop on Church Hill Road for various motor vehicle violations. Subsequent investigation led to the belief that narcotics may be inside the vehicle.

A Connecticut State Police K9 responded to the scene to assist and it was determined that the operator of the vehicle, Tameek Heath of Danbury, was in possession of a large amount of crack cocaine, suspected fentanyl, and thousands of dollars in cash along with other paraphernalia indicating sale of narcotics.

Heath was arrested, charged with possession with intent to sell (second offense), possession near a school zone, possession of over one-half ounces of cocaine, possession of paraphernalia, misuse of plates, operation with a suspended license, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

Heath’s bond was set at $75,000 and he was given a court date in Danbury Court.
