Mary Keating Domonkos

Mary “Wini” (Keating) Domonkos of Newtown died July 26, at Danbury Hospital. She was born in Bridgeport, December 7, 1923, a daughter of John and Josephine (McGivney) Keating.

Mrs Domonkos was a graduate of Norwalk Hospital’s Registered Nurse Program, working first as a visiting nurse for the city of Bridgeport and later as a charge nurse on the pediatric ward at Danbury Hospital, where she was able to fulfill her deep commitment to children in need.

A longtime Redding resident before moving to Newtown, she was active in Redding Senior Center activities and served on the Commission for the Elderly.

Mrs Domonkos leaves behind her loving children, Jane Domonkos and her husband, Jack Matern, of Newtown, Bob Domonkos of Denver, and Donald Domonkos and his wife, Bianca Saporiti, of Hilversum, the Netherlands. In addition, she is survived by a beloved sister; five cherished grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of devoted nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Calling hours were scheduled at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown, for Thursday, July 30, from 6 to 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 279 New Britain Road, Suite 5, Kensington CT 06037.
