Liuntina Vale Cruz

Devoted To Family

Liuntina Vale (Coelho) Cruz, 87, formerly of Danbury, died July 26, at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs Cruz was born on November 3, 1921, in Pawtucket, R.I. She was the daughter of Joseph and Leonia (Vale) Coelho, and the wife of the late Custodio A. Cruz.

She is survived by her son, Philip J. Cruz and wife, Sandra, of Newtown; her daughter Sandra Smith and husband, Robert, of Newtown; five grandchildren, a sister, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A grandson, Andrew Cruz, predeceased her.

She was a devoted wife and mother to her husband and children and a loving grandmother and great-grandmother.

Mrs Cruz was the owner of Lee Ange Manufacturing in Danbury, and a parishioner at St Gregory the Great Church in Danbury. She was a resident of Maplewood and very active within that community. She greeted each visitor who walked through the door with grace and special pride.

She especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her enthusiasm in that love was infectious to all of the family. She had a special love for her sister, Angie Coelho. The sisters were inseparable.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 30, with burial at St Peter’s Cemetery, Danbury.
