Hospiceâs Volunteers & Sponsors
Are Dedicated, Tireless
To the Editor:
Newtownâs community spirit has celebrated another landmark in its compassionate support. On June 17 at their Annual Summer Breakfast, The Newtown Fundraising Chapter of Regional Hospice was presented with a Governorâs Proclamation honoring their 20 years of humanitarian efforts on behalf of those in their community facing a life-limiting illness or loss.
On behalf of Regional Hospice Board of Directors, staff, and families we serve, I am deeply grateful to the dedicated volunteers whose tireless efforts, organizational acumen, and boundless charm brought the community together to raise nearly $20,000 during their recent breakfast at the Waterview. We are so grateful to the 36 generous families, businesses, and agencies who were table sponsors; the breakfastâs four corporate sponsors: Newtown Savings Bank, Newtown Lions Club, TR Paul, and Union Savings Bank; and the numerous local businesses who provided the exceptional raffle prizes.
In addition to the Governorâs Proclamation, all of the funds raised, tremendous business support, and the hundreds who got up early that morning were also tribute to the noble commitment of the Newtown Chapter. On behalf of the 500 people cared for by Regional Hospiceâs clinical programs and 900 children and adults who participated in The Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families this past year, I would like to thank the members of The Newtown Fundraising Chapter: Marg Studley and Marie Sturdevant, co-chairs, Marilyn Alexander, Ellyn Gehrett, Colleen Honan, Janet Hovious, Judy Leko, Maureen Crick Owen, and Linda Trentacosta.
My thanks to the Newtown Fundraising Chapter and to the entire Newtown community for your abiding spirit of generosity and for 20 years of making Regional Hospiceâs mission of care, comfort, and compassion possible in your community.
