Childrenâs Programs
*Reading With Hooper: Hooper, a yellow Lab, is a certified reading buddy and pet therapy partner with his human mom, Jane Paley who has been visiting Booth Library this summer. Their final sessions will be Saturday, August 1, at 11 am.
In addition to reading some favorite dog stories, Ms Paley will share Hooperâs story as well. She and her husband rescued him in the wake of Hurricane Katrina
*Music with Nancy: Nancy Hershatter, director of music in early childhood, will present a music program for young children, on Monday, August 3, at 10 am, in the meeting room.
The program is recommended for ages 3-6, and registration is not required.
*Monday Afternoon Crafts: Marie Walker is conducting one-hour craft workshops on Mondays until August 3. The workshops begin at 3:30 each week and are for ages 6 and up.
Sign-up needs to be done in person at the childrenâs desk. A $3 material fee is due upon registration.
On August 3 Marie will lead a workshop on scratch art.
*PJ Story Time has moved to Tuesday evenings (July 7-28 and August 4) at 6:30 pm.
Each week features a puppet play along with songs stories and generally silliness. Bring your blanket, pajamas encouraged. Recommended for ages 3-7, no registration required. The play for August 3 will be The Mysterious Egg.
*Library Cat II with Paula Hughes: The first installment of our giant cat bookends is on display in the childrenâs room. If you want to contribute to Library Cat II, artist Paula Hughes will conduct two more workshops on Wednesdays, August, August 12 and 19, both starting at 3:30.
The program is for ages 8-18 and registration should be done online.
Young Adult Events

*Woodland Houses For Fantastical Creatures: Due to popular demand, Katie Stevenson will lead another workshop making tiny houses for all sorts of imaginative creatures on Tuesday, August 11, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm â please note earlier start time than was previously announced..
This program is for ages 8-18Â and there is a supply fee of $5 payable at program. Details and signups are online.
*âTweens & Teens Summer Reading is halfway over!
Young people entering grades 6-12 can participate by simply filling out a short form each time you finish a book, and dropping it in the jar in the YA area. Every Monday we have a drawing and give away 5 or more prizes from local merchants â gift certificates for food, merchandise and entertainment.
*Chess Club meets all summer with Glenn Budzinski. Itâs for all ages, and boards and pieces are provided. Drop in and play chess on Saturday afternoons from 1 to 5 pm on the third floor.
