Wilfred (Bill) Allard
Wilfred (Bill) Allard, 79, of Newtown, died July 26, at Harborside-Glen Hill, Danbury, after a long illness.
He was born in Chittenden, Vt., October 13, 1921, a son of the late Arthur and Cea (Provencher) Allard. Bill was a US Navy Veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945 on the USS Boxer. After the war, he was employed by the New York Central Railroad for 12 years.
In 1959 he came to Newtown, where he was employed at Curtis Packaging of Sandy Hook for 30 years until his retirement in 1989. Mr Allard then worked part-time in the circulation department of The Newtown Bee until illness forced him to stop working.
Mr Allard was predeceased by his wife, Alice (Satzuk) Allard, in 1994 and by his son, Stephen Allard, in 1996. He leaves no immediate survivors.
A graveside service was held July 31 in Newtown Village Cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
