John Swatsley In Newtown, August 8

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown will sponsor a slide and lecture presentation by John Swatsley on Wednesday, August 8, at 7:30 pm. His program will be “Through The Camera To The Easel,” and it will concern photographic reference material in painting.

The program will be at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole). The program is open to the public, free of charge.

John Swatsley is a contemporary wildlife artist whose oil paintings and conte crayon studies take viewers into the intimate and mysterious lives of birds and animals. Mr Swatsley travels extensively for his material. Trips to Alaska, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Kenya are an ongoing source of inspiration for him.

Mr Swatsley studied at the Art Center College of Design in California. He is a signature member of American Watercolor Society and winner of the National Forest Service Centennial stamp design competition.

Mr Swatsley will have a show at Gregory James Gallery in New Milford entitled “Impressions of the Wild,” October 6 through November 25.
