Auditions For ‘Hay Fever’ In Sherman

SHERMAN — Auditions for Noel Coward’s Hay Fever, which will be the fourth of the five-play season at Sherman Playhouse, are scheduled for Sunday, August 5, from 1 to 4 pm, and Monday, August 6, from 7 to 9 pm. The auditions will be at Sherman Playhouse, at Routes 37 and 39 behind Sherman Firehouse.

The script requires five women ages 20 to 50 and four men ages 25 to 50.

Rehearsals will begin August 20 for a September 28 opening. Hay Fever will then run Friday and Saturday nights through October 20, with one Sunday matinee to be scheduled during the four-weekend run.

Hay Fever, set in an English country house envisioned by the witty and worldly Noel Coward, will be directed by Jane Farnol of Kent. Coward’s comedy of manners centers around Judith and David Bliss, a pair of oddly matched celebrities, who are hosting a “weekend.”

Mismatched lovers, an unsuccessful novelist and the hosts’ ultra-smart children all figure in to make Coward’s comedy one of his lightest and brightest.
