Spitting Incident At Garner

State police report a spitting incident at Garner Correctional Institution, the state’s high security prison on Nunnawauk Road.

State police said at about 9:10 am July 24, correction officer Thomas L. Calo, no age given, was making a routine check of a cellblock when he was spit on by Garner inmate Alan Lee Estey, 31.

State police said they plan to seek an arrest warrant against Estey on a charge of assault on public safety personnel.

  Sentences handed down in convictions for such crimes run consecutively after the term which an inmate is serving.
