Newtown Raises $19,000 For Regional Hospice

The amount is official. Once again the Newtown Chapter of Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, Inc, has set another fundraising record.

According to a report at last week’s executive board meeting, the Newtown Chapter will be donating $19,000 to Hospice — $17,700 from the 15th annual summer breakfast plus $1,300 contributed by the Newtown Woman’s Club, GFWC.

“It is just fabulous,” said breakfast co-chairman Janet Hovious. “Each year gets better than ever. This year’s breakfast was the most well-attended ever.”

Approximately 320 supporters attended the June 16 breakfast at the Fireside Inn. Last year’s breakfast raised $16,000.

The hospice breakfast committee also included co-chairman Marg Studley, Marilyn Alexander, Ellen Gehrett, Colleen Honan, Helen Herbold, Shirley Johnson, Marie Sturdevant, Barbara Webb, Donna Williams, Ken Stroud and the late Pat Stroud.

Helen Herbold was honored for sponsoring the breakfast table that raised the most money for Hospice.
