Charles “Tom” Valente, 64, “Mr Music,” of Sandy Hook, died peacefully July 27 at Regional Hospice and Home Care Center of Western Connecticut in Danbury. He was born November 17, 1950, to Helen and Charles Valente in Peekskill, N.Y.

He graduated cum laude from Pace University, Pleasantville, N.Y., with a bachelor’s degree in finance.

He served in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1975 and was a proud Vietnam veteran.

Mr Valente was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who never put himself first. It was family first, every time.

His mother; his loving wife, Barbara Valente; his daughter Cherish, and her husband Jerry Dachenhausen, Jr, and their children, Logan and Chance; his son Evan Valente; and his brother John Valente, and wife Josephine, survive Mr Valente. His father and his beloved daughter Sabrina preceded him in death.

A visitation will take place Friday, July 31, from 5 to 8 pm, at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 pm, Saturday, August 1, in St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown. Interment with military honors will follow in St Rose Cemetery.
