The Newtown Junior Ambulance Corps is holding a car wash on Saturday, July 29, at the ambulance garage on Main Street, from 9 am to 2 pm. The car washes are offered free of charge, but donations to support the fledgling Junior Ambulance Corps are welcome.

Newtown’s Junior Ambulance Corps was founded in the spring of 2005 and consists of 11 youths between the ages of 15 and 17. Many of the Junior Corps members are certified EMTs. Junior Corps members work up to their capacity alongside senior members of the Newtown Ambulance Corps when responding to emergency calls in town.

The Junior Corps was founded in order to provide young people with the opportunity to gain experience in the field of emergency response. It is hoped that eventually Junior Corps members will remain with the Newtown Ambulance Corps in senior positions, increasing the number of trained response technicians in town.
